Last updated: Monday, May 11, 2026

These Membership Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern membership in the National Society of Autism Professionals ("NSAP," "the Society," "we," "us," or "our"). By submitting a membership application, paying dues, or otherwise participating as a member, the applicant ("Member") agrees to be bound by these Terms, as well as NSAP's Mission, policies, and governing documents, as amended from time to time.

1. Term of Membership

Memberships are granted on an annual, calendar-year basis, running from January 1 through December 31.

Organizations joining midyear will receive membership benefits through December 31 of the current year and will be eligible for renewal for the subsequent calendar year.

2. Membership Dues & Billing

  • Membership dues are established by NSAP and published on the NSAP website.
  • Dues must be paid in full to activate or renew membership.
  • Membership dues are nonrefundable, except where required by law or expressly authorized by NSAP in writing.
  • NSAP may, at its discretion, offer promotional, introductory, or staff-applied discounts.
  • Failure to pay dues may result in suspension or termination of membership.

3. Organizational Seats & Authorized Representatives

  • Each organizational member may designate a limited number of individual representatives ("Authorized Representatives") based on its membership category.
  • Authorized Representatives act on behalf of the organization for purposes of participation and communication.
  • All Authorized Representatives must comply with NSAP policies, codes of conduct, and professional standards.
  • The organization is responsible for maintaining accurate, up-to-date designation information.
  • The organization is the voting member and can designate a voting representative. Other individuals holding seats will have access to benefits but will not have individual voting rights.

4. Membership Benefits

Membership benefits vary by membership type and may include access to professional resources, educational programming, committees, working groups, publications, directories, events, discounts, or other opportunities as determined by NSAP.

NSAP reserves the right to modify, add, or discontinue benefits at any time to support evolving mission priorities. Benefits do not constitute guaranteed services or outcomes.

5. Governance & No Individual Authority

NSAP is governed by its Board of Directors in accordance with its governing documents. Except where expressly stated in NSAP's Bylaws:

Members may not represent themselves as speaking or acting on behalf of NSAP unless expressly authorized in writing.

6. Code of Conduct & Ethical Standards

All Members and Authorized Representatives agree to:

  • Uphold NSAP's mission, values, and ethical principles
  • Conduct themselves professionally, respectfully, and lawfully
  • Avoid conflicts of interest and disclose potential conflicts when required
  • Refrain from misleading use of NSAP's name, logo, or reputation

NSAP may suspend or terminate membership for conduct inconsistent with these standards.

7. Use of Name, Logo & Materials

Membership does not grant ownership or unrestricted use of NSAP's intellectual property.

Members may reference their membership status in a factual manner consistent with NSAP brand guidelines. Any misuse of NSAP's name, logo, or materials may result in corrective action.

8. Suspension or Termination

NSAP reserves the right to suspend or terminate membership, with or without prior notice, for:

  • Violation of these Terms or NSAP policies
  • Nonpayment of dues
  • Conduct inconsistent with NSAP's mission or professional standards
  • Misrepresentation of membership status

Termination does not entitle the Member to a refund of dues.

9. No Warranty; Limitation of Liability

Membership is provided on an "as is" basis. NSAP makes no warranties regarding outcomes, professional advancement, business success, or regulatory compliance resulting from membership.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, NSAP shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from membership or participation in NSAP activities.

10. Amendments

NSAP may amend these Membership Terms & Conditions at any time. Updated Terms will be posted on the NSAP website and become effective upon posting unless otherwise stated. Continued membership constitutes acceptance of revised Terms.
